At age 12, Matthew started his career with a plastic Diana camera and two rolls of film. He is now recognized as a master photographer working internationally. Factory workers and CEOs, miners and astronomers, models and mothers, he is equally respectful of everyone that he finds before his lens. Throughout, he has been generous with his knowledge and expertise, mentoring younger photographers and supporting the industry.
Sylvia is the nexus in the Venn diagram between client and creative, business and art, brand and image. Her experience as an executive producer has honed her skills in translating the intangibles of a business message into exceptional imagery. Some call it instinct, some call it her built-in bogus detector — it is her dogged pursuit of authenticity that drives Sylvia to lead her team to results beyond expectation.
If positive energy and genuine good nature were all that we needed to keep the business side of our productions on track, Nicki would have us covered. Fortunately, she has worked in the photo industry for 30 years, has run her own agency for 15, and pretty much wrote the book on production management. So when the business side gets complicated, Nicki's still a step ahead, keeping everything in balance.
Patrick comes to Plexman Photography from the fast paced world of film and event production. He mastered the complexity of coordinating production for commercials, a television series, and feature length films, then founded his own production company, producing 9 short films, both independently and in cooperation with the Canadian Film Centre. In other words, he has a lot of experience in making sure nothing gets away from him.
Patrick’s main focus at Plexman is a different kind of hectic - more like production sudoku. With focus and a quick wit, he smoothly solves the daily puzzle of assignments, schedules, production teams, budgets, and getting everyone where they need to be on any given shoot day.
Seth’s ‘work smarter not harder’ ethic applies to everything he does around here - which is a lot. Shooting, on-set assisting, managing our studio, retouching, tending to our online presence and streamlining our workflows - all make good use of his undergrad certificate in Creative Problem Solving and Photography degree. When growing up in small town B.C., his 10th birthday wish was an espresso machine — a clue that he’d soon be off searching for a perfect cup of java. A coincidence we now own a fancy coffee machine?
